The Blues are looking to reinvigorate their frontline ahead of the 2022/23 season, with club record signing Romelu Lukaku already sent back to former club Inter Milan on loan, having toiled since returning to Stamford Bridge as Thomas Tuchel failed to find a way to integrate him into the side’s 3-4-3 system.
Sterling has been identified as Tuchel’s primary target in attack, and City have been open to sales in the attacking positions after securing deals for new strikers Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez already this summer.
With Gabriel Jesus’ move to Arsenal confirmed earlier this morning, Sterling is also deemed surplus to requirements, having moved to the Etihad from Liverpool in 2015.
In order to accommodate the England international, Chelsea are believed to be open to offers for both Christian Pulisic and Ziyech, with the club now increasingly confident of securing a deal with AC Milan to allow the latter to leave, according to the Daily Mail.
Ziyech joined Chelsea from Ajax two years ago for a fee of around £35m during Frank Lampard’s time in charge of the club, but has never managed to secure a regular spot in the starting line-up and his opportunities under Tuchel have been further limited as time has gone on.
The Moroccan has appeared in 46 Premier League games in his two seasons at Stamford Bridge, scoring a meagre six goals in that time.
Chelsea have been linked with moves for both Richarlison and Raphinha in addition to Sterling this summer, with Tuchel seemingly intent on improving his side’s potency in front of goal.
With Richarlison having already opted to join Tottenham Hotspur, the Blues could potentially still rival Arsenal for Raphinha’s signature.
