Gary Beadle and his wife, Emma, are going through a tough time, as she recovers from major heart surgery.

The Geordie Shore star, 34, married Emma McVey, 30, in 2021, and they share two children: son Chester and daughter Primrose.

But the couple’s young children have had to be very brave, with Gaz revealing that one of Emma’s lungs has collapsed after her operation.

Emma – who has suffered a heart defect since birth – is in hospital and is currently on oxygen, with her family hoping she’ll be home in a few days.

Updating his 3.7million followers, the reality TV personality posted a selfie with his wife in her pyjamas, sitting in a chair beside her hospital and still with a smile on her face.

He initially shared that her surgery went ‘amazing and all to plan’, as surgeons fixed her valve, as well as one large hole and two smaller ones in her heart.

Gaz began: ‘Think it’s very important on here to always show the hard times not just the good stuff… this is the hardest thing our family will ever go through.

‘Kids have been so brave but also cried and been emotional wrecks at bed times and mornings and just missing mummy like crazy…

‘Emma even with today the news 1 of her lungs has collapsed and is now on oxygen to help bring it back over the weekend hasn’t stopped her 1 bit today when i went in for the hour we get as it clashes with school pick up she was up and walking to the toilet her self 😱😍 which is just amazing [sic]’.

Gaz added that Emma is ‘smashing it’ and he and their kids are ‘so proud’ of her.

Mum-of-two Emma has been in and out of hospital for several years now, since doctors informed her that she has three holes in her heart.

Ahead of her open heart surgery, she informed fans a couple of years ago: ‘I have three large holes in my heart and damaged tissue which is causing my blood to pass through the wrong direction.

‘The right side of my heart is now enlarged and weak, along with high blood pressure in my lungs.

‘This has all got a lot worse as they should of been closed when I was a child, unfortunately no one checked my heart even when I had seizures and diagnosed with epilepsy or fainted like it was a hobby.’
