Motherland star Tanya Moodie has admitted she was incredibly anxious when told she would have to snog Buffy sex symbol Anthony Head on her first day on set.
The series follows a group of west London parents having to juggle raising their kids with the trials and tribulations of school-gate politics.
Tanya has played Meg in the BBC comedy series since 2021, a character who is a busy working mum who also went through a breast cancer battle in the most recent third season.
Playing her husband was Anthony, 58, who is best known for his role as Rupert Giles in Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
So when it came to filming alongside him, Tanya, 50, was understandably pretty nervous.
‘When I was told [I would be acting with him] I got very excited,’ Tanya revealed while appearing on Lorraine on Thursday morning.
‘But then the very first day of filming I did ever that is when we had to kiss,’ she told host Ranvir Singh.
‘It wasn’t a passionate kiss, but the director kept saying we had to do it again and asked if it could be a bit longer,’ she explained.
‘The scene was about trying to make Julia [their neighbour, played by Anna Maxwell Martin] feel a bit jealous and feel like they were sickening, so we had to keep kissing.’
When probed about whether she was nervous about what was happening, Tanya admitted she had been terrified.
‘Of course I was, wouldn’t you be?’ she said. ‘He is iconic and an eyeful.’
However she did say that Anthony was a calming presence.
‘He is the nicest nicest most beautiful man on the planet,’ she said.
‘He is so kind and sweet and was very patient.’
While the last season of Motherland aired back in 2021, it is now back for a Christmas Special this week.
Last Christmas is a half-hour-long episode dedicated to the pandemonium that comes with the festive season.
With school out, the mums (and Kevin) are busy prepping for the ultimate in blended Christmas celebrations, but of course there are set to be a few curveballs along the way.
Lorraine airs weekdays from 9am on ITV. Last Christmas airs on Friday at 9:30pm on BBC One.
