My boss-from-hell at Subway left a furious note banning us from being SICK… we have to find our own cover if we’re ill
AN ANGRY employee has shared a furious note their manager left banning staff from being sick unless they can find cover.
The boss-from-hell left a message for his employees saying that they need to find another member of the team to cover their shift if they are off sick.
The outrageous note is believed to have been posted at a Subway store in South Carolina.
The message reads: “To all team members: If you’re calling out sick you must find another team member to cover your shift and if you cannot get it covered you must work your shift.”
A second note posted underneath states: From this point forward: If temps are not completed it is a write up.
“If you are not in full uniform (hat, nametag, apron, blue or black jeans and non-slip shoes) it is a write up.
“Pilot company policy is 3 unexcused absences is termination.
“You must call out 4 hours in advance or it is a write up.
“If you are on your phone and ignoring customers it is a write up.
“If you don’t clean up after yourself it is a write up.
“These are some of but not all of the things you will be held accountable for from this point forward.”
The two notes that were shared on social media left users furious commenting it’s actually the manager’s responsibility to find cover when an employee is sick.
Someone said: “’If you’re sick and can’t find someone to cover for you, you have to come in”
“I’m sure the health department would appreciate a call from a sick employee being forced to make food.”
Another one commented: “This is literally how we all got Covid and we learned nothing”
One added: “As a manager, yes. This is exactly a Manager’s responsibility.
“I see this all the time and it’s BS. Being sick can put coworkers and customers in danger (especially now) Management are the ones who have access to phone numbers, schedules, and availability.
“Expecting someone to get a shift covered without that information is insane.”
Subway has been approached for comment.
Meanwhile, another boss of a Puma warehouse has divided opinion after sticking up a note asking employees not to wear items from other competitors such as Nike and Adidas.
A manager got slammed for posting a note saying “work is not meant to be fun” alongside a minion character.
And another manager posted a note telling staff not to charge their phones at work as it’s “theft of electricity”.
