One-Of-One $6m Bugatti Chiron Profilée Is Up For Auction In Paris This Week

Hypercar collectors will have one last opportunity to buy a new Bugatti Chiron this week, as the unique Profilée goes under the hammer at an auction in France on 1 February.

Bugatti had originally intended for the Profilée to enter series production, after feedback from customers suggested the French automaker produce a car slightly less radical than the sportiest version of Chiron, the Pur Sport.

But, before Bugatti could complete development of the Profilée, all 500 examples of Chiron sold out faster than expected. Instead of canceling the Profilée project, Bugatti completed one example.

Finished in a color called Argent Atlantique and developed exclusively for this car, the Profilée features a sweeping tail that is entirely unique among any other model of Chiron. The lower part of the body is finished in exposed blue carbon, and other unique details include wider air inlets, an enlarged Bugatti ‘horseshoe’ front grille and a revised front splitter.

The matching interior features a unique woven-leather finish across the center console, dashboard and door panels. This finish uses 2,665 meters of leather strips, each applied by hand.

As well as sporting a unique interior and exterior, the Profilée is the fastest-accelerating Chiron of all, thanks to its seven-speed, dual-clutch transmission receiving shorter gear ratios, and the engine having its rev limited increased by 200 rpm to 6,900 rpm. The car has a claimed 0-62 mph (100 km/h) time of just 2.3 seconds (down from 2.4 seconds for the regular Chiron) and can hit 300 km/h (186 mph) in 12.4 seconds. The top speed is electronically limited to 380 km/h (236 mph).

Power produced by the 8.0-liter, quad-turbocharged W16 engine is up by 100 PS from the regular Chiron, to a Super Sport-matching 1,600 PS.

Handling should also be improved over the regular Chiron, with the Profilée receiving all-new steering and suspension settings for, Bugatti says, more responsive handling.

Not only is this the final Chiron to be offered new from the Bugatti factory – and not only is it a unique, one-of-one variant of Chiron – it is also the final Bugatti to be powered by the company’s W16 quad-turbo engine.

Offered with 396 km of test mileage on the clock and European single-type approval for street use, the Chiron Profilée will be auctioned by RM Sothebys at the Rétromobile car event in Paris on 1 February. The auction house expects it to make between €4.2m and €5.5m ($4.6m and ($6m).
