A WOMAN has told how her holiday was ruined after finding disgusting blood stains and squalor in her dream beach house.
The traveller was forking out £81-a-night to stay at the property in Invercargill, New Zealand – that didn’t even have running water.
She admitted she “didn’t look at the reviews” before renting the accommodation for two nights after spotting it on Expedia.
The anonymous guest had travelled over 500 miles from Blenheim to the city under the impression it was pet friendly and equipped with a washing machine and wifi.
But after completing her tiresome trip on Tuesday, the holidaymaker was left horrified by the state of the property she was staying in.
She told news outlet Stuff: “When I saw the price tag that kind of alarmed me, and I thought why is it so cheap.
“But then I don’t really know Invercargill and I thought maybe it was because it was so far out.
“I didn’t look at the reviews – I was literally on the road.”
But the tourist’s lack of research came back to bite her, as she described the home as a “mess” that “looks like a dump yard.”
The owner of the beach pad, named Simon, greeted her outside the home before giving her a gruesome tour inside.
But the woman said windows were smashed, mould had sprouted around the place and there was no heating or water.
She says Simon told her “homeless people who broke in” had caused the mess and brushed off the guest’s concerns.
But she was left “freezing” due to the lack of windows and couldn’t even heat the property as there was no resources for the fire.
The frustrated tourist was then informed there was no wifi and found multiple plug sockets were failing to work.
And it was the bathroom that really took the biscuit – as the woman claimed the tub was covered in sickening blood stains.
Accompanied by a shower “that hadn’t been cleaned for six months” and a lack of running water, she had seen enough.
The barmy owner then offered to “bring some buckets of water around” to make her stay easier.
She fumed: “It was disgusting.”
After discussing her dire dilemma with a relative, she decided to leave the property immediately.
She demanded a refund and ordered the owner to remove the property listing to help stop other guests from being duped.
But boss Simon told her: “The house is fairly quaint (old) and I have been slowly renovating it as funds allow, so please don’t expect hotel quality.
“We’re in Autumn now, so there’s a cold breeze outside, you’d have to wrap up warmly to go for a stroll on the Oreti Beach [sic].”
The woman branded it the “worst accommodation” she has ever seen, saying the host scheming host relies on “last minute bookings where people are desperate.”
She is yet to receive a refund for her two-night stay.
