Woolworths staff are being harassed by angry punters not able to get their hands on Logan Paul and KSI’s PRIME drink after its release was delayed across Australia.
The wait has left Woolies staff distraught and frustrated, with even desperate parents pestering them and demanding the drink for their children.
The colourful drink has caused an internet storm — and even though celebrity chef Gordan Ramsay said it tastes like “swallowing perfume”, Australians are eager to taste the sports drink.
In a statement, Woolworths said the PRIME Hydration variety would become available nationally “in the coming weeks”.
It was initially meant to go on sale on Wednesday.
The continued badgering over the drink’s unavailability has left Woolies workers hysterical, with many taking to social media to vent their distress.
“People asking for PRIME is gonna be my new paralysis demon,” one Woolies worker posted.
Another said: “I had at least 10 eshays with dirty mullets ask me this in a span of 5 minutes as soon as the store opened this morning.”
A third added: “I had a lady ring up on the weekend pissed we didn’t have it for her nine-year-old son.”
And yet another commented: “I’ve been asked nearly every day for the past week if we have it …”
Woolies staff had predicted the customer outrage when the drink’s release was delayed on the back of podcaster and wrestler Paul’s promotion of it.
“Brace yourselves for countless smelly teenagers asking for PRIME in the coming days,” one warned.
Another said: “Eshays and degens (sic) new favourite drink right after monster and rockstar.”
Many even queued for a drink that hadn’t even been released, with one Facebook user saying they had “been lining up for three hours and Coles didn’t have any”.
It comes as it was revealed that Australian outlets will not offer the caffeinated variety of PRIME — which holds up to 200mg of caffeine.
Woolworths told The West Australian that it would only stock the PRIME Hydration 500ml variety in four flavours — tropical punch, blue raspberry, ice pop and lemon lime.
In a recent radio show with Kyle & Jackie O, co-owners Paul and KSI — while visiting Australia for UFC 284 and the promotion of PRIME — said the drink would be made available in Coles prior to Woolworths.
Coles was unable to confirm the claim, nor were they able to confirm if the drink would be stocked nationally.
“We know that our team and customers are excited about the launch of PRIME Hydration,” a Coles spokeswoman said.
“However, we are unable to offer it to our customers at this time.”
Coles — which has since removed PRIME from its online website — has not confirmed if outlets will offer the Hydration variety to customers.
PRIME Hydration contains 10 per cent coconut water, electrolytes, BCAA’s and offers 20 calories per bottle.
PRIME, which on its website states that the drink is available across Coles and Woolworths outlets, said: “Our team is working hard to expand our markets and product availability.”
