Ahead of the release of the highly-anticipated TV series Daisy Jones and the Six, star Riley Keough is on the promotion trail, weeks after the death of her mother Lisa Marie Presley.

The actress has received an outpouring of support from friends and fans over her return to work, with several saying that her late mum would be ‘very proud’ of her.

In January this year, Lisa Marie, the only child of music legend Elvis Presley, died at the age of 54 after suffering a cardiac arrest.

In a statement, her mother Priscilla Presley said: ‘It is with a heavy heart that I must share the devastating news that my beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us. She was the most passionate, strong and loving woman I have ever known.’

Lisa Marie had four children – Riley, born in 1989; Benjamin Keough, who was born in 1992 and died in 2020 aged 27; and twins Harper Lockwood and Finley Lockwood, born in 2008.

Following her death, Riley, 33, paid emotional tribute, sharing a black-and-white photo of them together alongside a red heart in the caption.

She later shared another picture of them, revealing that it was the last photograph they had together.

‘I feel blessed to have a photo of the last time I saw my beautiful mama. Grateful @georgieflores took this. ❤️,’ she wrote at the time.

In her most recent Instagram post, Riley revealed that she’d kicked off the press tour for Daisy Jones and the Six, the Amazon Prime Video coming out next month in which she plays the titular character opposite cast members including Sam Claflin, Camila Morrone and Suki Waterhouse.

The miniseries is based on the widely-beloved book of the same name by Taylor Jenkins Reid.

‘Here we go! @daisyjonesandthesix press day one,’ she wrote, sharing a couple of pictures of herself wearing a floral ensemble designed by Paco Rabanne.

One supportive fan commented: ‘My mother’s advice before she passed was to keep living and having a good time. I wish the same for you.’

‘So pretty 😍. Good luck Riley, we’re behind you and we’ll be tuning in ❤️,’ another said, while the rock band Garbage added: ‘Congratulations. Your mum would be right proud. 🔥.’

One person said that their ‘heart ached’ looking at the photo, because Riley ‘looks so much like her beautiful mother’.

‘Stunning. You have so many people rooting for you. Every mother wants their kids to be happy and successful and I have no doubt your mom and family are so happy for this,’ someone else wrote.

Daisy Jones and the Six is due to launch on Friday March 3 on Amazon Prime Video.
