Supermodel Stephanie Seymour has opened up on the devastating death of her son Harry Brant, who died at just 24.
Socialite Brant tragically died from an overdose in 2021, devastating his friends and family, including his heartbroken mother Seymour, 54.
Having made a major name for herself in the 80s and 90s with photoshoots in the likes of Sports Illustrated and Vogue, as well as becoming a high-flyer in Victoria’s Secret, Seymour is now back with a heart-wrenching new shoot.
The grieving mother returned to work for the first time since the death of her son with a special spread in the Wall Street Journal, wearing a suit her son had chosen for her as a child.
As well as baring her grief in a new interview to accompany the shoot, Seymour also shed her clothes at one stage, with the camera snapping her bare back as it bore the word ‘Harry.’
Seymour recalled how, as a young child Brant was hugely interested in fashion, and would pick out clothes for his mum to wear; and before long he had an eye for his own style, too.
At one point he chose a Saint Laurent by Heidi Slimane which he fell in love with, and which Seymour has kept in her wardrobe since his death as a reminder of him,
Until, one night she tried it on, realising with shock that it fit perfectly.
Seymour has now worn part of the perfectly-fitting suit as part of the new shoot, with her son’s name across her back, saying it is something Brant would have ‘loved’.
‘If I think that Harry would love something, I do it, and it does help me with my grief. It still feels so good to put his clothes on,’ she explained.
She added that she is currently working on a project which would see her and other women pose in more of his clothes, saying it was ‘something I’m going to enjoy doing.’
Brant had followed his mother’s footsteps in the fashion world and was a model himself, appearing in campaigns for Italian Vogue and Balmain.
He had also released a unisex make-up line with his brother Peter Jr for Mac, and wrote as a teenager for Interview magazine, which was once owned by his father Peter Brant, 73.
Stephanie and Peter, 73, also share son Peter Jr, 29, and daughter Lilly Margaret, 18.
The late model also had an older half-brother Dylan from his mother’s previous marriage to guitarist Tommy Andrews, and four half-siblings from his father’s previous marriage to Sandra Brant.
Following his sudden death in 2021, his family released a heart-wrenching statement where they mourned the things their son would never get to do.
‘We will forever be saddened that his life was cut short by this devastating disease. He achieved a lot in his 24 years, but we will never get the chance to see how much more Harry could have done,’ they wrote.
‘Harry was not just our son. He was also a wonderful brother, loving grandson, favorite uncle and a caring friend.
‘He was a creative, loving and powerful soul that brought light into so many people’s hearts. He was truly a beautiful person inside and out. (sic)’
