A DISAPPOINTING START TO THE FOURTH SEASON

When season three ended last year, viewers learned that Thando, who is married to Siyacela, is pregnant with their first child.

Thando, who was in grade 12 at the time, was under a lot of strain from their marriage due to her husband’s cheating ways.

In January this year when the nationwide matric results were released, a rumour that the expectant mom had passed spread. It was also reported that Thando had achieved a Bachelor’s pass and four distinctions.

However, in the first episode of the fourth season, a heavily Thando admitted that she had failed her grade 12 studies.

ABOUT THANDO AND SIYACELA ON ‘ISENCANE LENGANE’

Mzansi was introduced to Thando and Siyacela in 2019 when Isencane Lengane made headlines for all the wrong reasons.

The show follows the lives of two teenagers who are high school sweethearts and end up getting married. Thando and Siyacela tied the knot back in 2019 when they were only 15 and 16 years old, respectively.

Every week the Moja Love reality TV show aired, it received a lot of backlash and calls for cancellation. However, it has now grown on fans and trends for all the drama Siyacela brings.

HARD HEADED, A DROPOUT AND A CHEAT

The first season saw the young could navigate life, their love and school together. Viewers met a smart and sweet Thando who was head over heels in love with a funny and stubborn Siyacela.

When the season ended, their families had married them off, with Thando leaving home in Nkandla to live with the Dlamukas (Siyacela’s family) in Ulundi.

In the second season, Siyacela, who was a grade behind Thando, decided to drop out of school – claiming his teachers were mean to him. Viewers also saw a different side to him which they did not like. He became arrogant and disrespectful towards his elders, and also started talking about a second wife.

The third season introduced more drama for the couple as Siyacela started cheating on his wife. The woman in question, Manto from Illovu, made a number of appearances on the show as they spent lots of alone-time in Durban. Siyacela also started speaking about marrying his new girl, which caused conflict in his marriage, so much so that Thando repeatedly threatened to leave.

In the same season, Thando found out she was pregnant – much to Siyacela’s excitement. While he appeared to treat his wife better, viewers were not fooled by his antiques as he never left his mistress.

The season also saw Thando’s parents (who are no longer an item) come together to try and get their daughter out of that toxic marriage, which they failed.
