Ah Pedro Pascal. A God amongst men.
When he’s not gifting the world with literally some of the best TV ever, he’s adorably eating hot wings (‘I’m doing okay… right?’), complimenting reporters’ manicures and serving us with some serious fashion moments.
And it turns out, it’s exhausting to be this perfect. Because our Daddy Pedro’s coffee order has been revealed and we can’t help but ask: are you okay, hun?
TikToker, Alexa, aka @alexainspace, must have done something good in a past life because she bumped into Pedro on the street, and he just so happened to be holding his Starbucks cup.
Of course, eagle-eyed fans zoomed in on the cup and were able to spot his slightly worrying order.
Brace yourselves: Pedro is fuelled by an iced quad espresso in a venti cup, with extra ice and six shots. Yes, six.
We can only assume that this means he has six shots in total – rather than in addition to the four already in the quad espresso. But still, that’s a lot of coffee.
‘Is his heart okay?’ asked one concerned fan. ‘That is a violent amount of coffee,’ wrote another.
But this revelation has seen fans copying his order – which, it turns out, is not the best idea.
The general advice from the NHS is that four cups of coffee throughout the day – around 400mg of caffeine – is fine. But Pedro’s order contains around 384mg, and that’s all at once.
Dr Ellie Cannon, GP and author of Is Your Job Making You Ill?, says she wouldn’t recommend ordering The Pedro Pascal.
She told Metro.co.uk: ‘In one go, that’s a very high dose of caffeine.
‘While we know coffee makes us feel more alert, physiologically, it increases your heart rate and raises your blood pressure.
‘It’s good to raise your heart rate via exercise, but this is caused by a stimulant – you’re likely to notice your heart racing, experience palpitations, and you may feel more anxious.’
And the long-term outlook isn’t great either. ‘You could develop heart rhythm disturbances, and high blood pressure, which puts you at risk of heart disease and stroke,’ says Ellie.
‘High caffeine intake can also exacerbate the symptoms of pre-existing conditions. For example, it can make menopausal hot flashes even worse.’
Caffeine in moderation is absolutely fine, but if you’re finding you need lots of it to get through your day, you might want to consider some lifestyle changes.
Dr Ellie says: ‘Have a look at your sleep and diet. There is more energy to be gained from a protein and carbohydrate rich diet, then there is from coffee.’
So, while you might be thirsty for Pedro, the moral of the story here is, don’t drink his Starbucks order.
Pedro, if you’re reading this, it might be time to lay off the coffee, and take a nap instead. If you need a spooning partner, I’m available.
